Kids MInistry Programming for Nursery, Preschool and Elementary

Jesus gives us the most amazing reason to party. That’s why we believe God’s love and the Gospel of Jesus is the best news ever! During our summer schedule from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, kids in Preschool Church & Elementary Kids Worship at 10 am will celebrate the Good News of Jesus with lots of energy, excitement, and opportunities to dance into God's word as we explore what it means to have joy.

Joy is an attitude—a decision to trust God no matter what is going on in our lives. From the very beginning, God had a plan for the world. As we dive into the Bible, we’ll discover God’s plan for us and how God has been at work through it all. When we see and celebrate what God is doing, we can find true joy!

11:00 am

Women led by Janet Letteer in Room 221

The Women’s class will be studying Kay Arthur’s book, “Lord I Want to Know You.”

Sojourners led by Becky Tyson in Room 114

June – God’s Chosen Ones: Samuel, Saul, and David

July – Encounters with God/For Better or Worse – pairings of Gospel texts with Old Testament prophetic texts

August – The Church at Ephesus – Lessons from Ephesians

Our Food Pantry relies mostly on donations. Pick up a couple extra boxes of cereal during the month of May.

As always, any and all donations are appreciated.

Faith & Recovery Ministry

The Slingshot event we hosted on Sat. 5/11 was a huge success!!  Thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help.  There were over 30 participants from multiple Richmond recovery programs.  We had fun playing games, eating a wonderful lunch, making Mother’s Day crafts, hearing a moving testimonial, and just hanging out.  It was a tremendous opportunity to live-out our mission – to share the love of Christ with the Richmond recovery community through direct fellowship!

Would you like to learn more about interacting with the participants in the Richmond recovery community?  Come join us for a seminar on this very topic on Monday, June 17th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm here at Gayton Baptist Church in the community room, titled “Interacting with the Recovery Community”.  It is being led by Marti Williams and Leon Dangerfield.  Marti is a Peer Recovery Specialist and is training to be a Family Recovery Practitioner. In 2014, she and her husband founded Into The Neighborhood, a ministry focused on loving God and loving your neighbor. They have been actively involved in loving and serving the addiction and recovery community for nearly 20 years. Leon is a Registered Peer and a Forensic Peer Specialist, who sits on the Central overdose committee for the US Attorney’s office. He has a combined 30 yrs. of experience in the recovery community.

Please respond to Mike Brumagin if you plan to attend or have any questions, mikebrum89@gmail.com

MARK 10:45 – “HE CAME TO SERVE”

For even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

SAVE THE DATE: July 11-14, 2024

Here is the heart of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in one simple statement. Living to serve others is one way we can follow His example and we are excited for the opportunity to demonstrate that service to our local community on the second weekend in July for our 3rd annual LOCAL Family Mission Trip! Believers of all ages within our Gayton Baptist Church Family are invited to serve together on mission right here in RVA as we shine the light of Jesus to our neighbors! There are projects for all, from preschoolers to our senior saints, in which we meet real and practical needs while building authentic relationships with our neighbors and with our church family.

Parents and grandparents - what an opportunity to put faith into practice as you serve alongside your child or grandchild! This powerful shared experience will be a core memory, for sure!

We will kick off this very special weekend with a fellowship meal and devotional on Thursday evening, and will have mission opportunities on Friday morning, afternoon, and evening and Saturday morning and afternoon. Aren’t available the whole weekend? Not a problem! Choose your own mission adventure and sign up for the opportunities that will fit into your family’s schedule and rhythm. The second best part (after the working together to shine the light of Jesus, part) is that you get to sleep in your own bed every night! No lumpy mattresses, broken AC, or forgotten pillows required!

It's time for Summer SHINE! Share His Influence Now to Everyone!

As you may know, each summer, Gayton Kids Ministry Sunday morning programming is staffed by our parents and other church volunteers who are asked to serve a single Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. This provides a break for some of our Kids Min leaders who serve consistently September through May and allows an opportunity for families to participate in kids programming with their children, interacting with leaders and kids!

Please consider your summer schedule (trips, vacations, etc) and choose one week to serve! We would like to have kids programming (nursery, preschool, and elementary) during the Bible Study hour at 9 am and during the worship service at 10 am, but this is entirely dependent on volunteer sign ups. All lesson plans will be written for you and shared with you in advance, and all resources needed to complete the activities will be pulled for you and ready in the room on Sunday.

We require at least two leaders in each ministry area, one of whom is 18+. Families are welcome to serve together.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Buy your own tickets online or in person and meet Mrs. Hillary in General Admission section 214!
