Our vision is to love youth with the passionate love of God, disciple them in the context of authentic,
deep relationships and challenge them to commit their lives to the holy adventure of faith.
Within the youth ministry are two distinct ministries: Upper School (8th-12th grades) and Lower School (6th-7th grades). Through these two ministries, we desires to see youth enter into age-appropriate conversations and relationships with adult leaders, other youth and grow in their relationship with God.
Our youth ministry is filled with students from local area middle and high schools who gather together and share in life together seeking to know God and make Him known through their daily lives and in these ministries:
Sunday School
Meeting at 11:00 every Sunday morning, youth are offered a time of Bible study and fellowship in which they explore Biblical truths and how to apply it to their lives. Through a creative and systematic approach to Bible study, our youth will have a comprehensive study throughout their seven years in the youth ministry. Classes include: 6/7th grade guys; 6/7th grade girls; 8th grade; 9-10th grade; 11-12th grades.
*There is also a 9:45 class for lower school youth.
engage [Youth Group]
Sunday nights from 6:00 to 7:30, youth join for worship through music, teaching, relationships, and creative elements. This youth group time is a highlight of the week for many youth in our church and community. At engage, the Upper School (8-12th grades) meets in the youth room and the Lower School (6-7th grades) meets upstairs.
Create [Creative Arts Ministry]
As God is revealing, sharpening, and leading our youth to discovering their gifts and talents in the creative arts world, we provide opportunities to develop and use those skills through Create. Special Create groups such as songwriting, praise bands, drama team, and other creative arts areas meet periodically throughout the year. Youth are encouraged to sign up to participate.
Justice/Adventure [Community Missions]
As our youth group is pursuing a mission outside of ourselves, we seek to right the wrongs of the world through missions in our community and world. Throughout the year, we offer projects for both the upper school and lower school. In addition, our annual summer mission trips are highlights of the year in GBC youth ministry.
Retreats & Youth Weekends
Often times a change of geography equals a change of perspective from the heart. Throughout the fall, we will retreat to give a fresh perspective away from the comforts of home and offer our youth a time to be spiritually challenged within our youth group and more importantly within our relationship with God. In addition, during the Spring semester our church enjoys Youth Sunday which is centered around a Youth Weekend.
LifeGROUPS
A significant part of our youth ministry is through intentional relationships we like to call LifeGROUPs. LifeGROUPs will be developing throughout the year and launch for the entire youth group very soon. These groups will offer a time of discipleship, accountability, and rich relationship building with our adult youth leaders. LifeGROUPs will shape the way GBC Youth 2.0 is formed.
